The timing was impeccable for this assignment because I was getting ready to use two of the other Digital Applied Skills modules with my 21st Century Skills classes for the first time. Independently, this task would have been so overwhelming because writing does not come naturally to me, but I enjoyed the process of brainstorming with my group and creating a story that had so many options for the reader to choose from. This also gave me an authentic opportunity to see how the Digital Applied Skills modules worked so I could better answer students’ questions and anticipate their needs.
If you haven’t checked out the Digital Applied Skills modules available for middle and high school students, I highly recommend that you do. Click here to find out more. If-Then stories can make history come alive as students show different perspectives of different time periods. Science teachers can have students take their readers on a sea floor spreading adventure or a tour of the human body. This style of story could be given to students with total freedom in the topic they choose to write about or to see how many different viewpoints the groups can come up with to react to a particular situation. The possibilities are endless! I hope to see you writing your own classroom adventures soon! Please share them in the comments section below.
